An eclectic mix of imagery from the year of 2015. This year marked a potent, prolific year of evolution of the "Bee Story Dress" project. A number of new bee story paintings were created, and from those new fabrics. The project was launched up and out of the studio, and the story dresses hit the runway in a show with RAW in August.
The project was put into a "story board" form at an exhibition in Seattle's historic Ballard neighborhood. The visual work including sketches, paintings, and the bee stories themselves, were displayed on a pollen colored wall, and the dresses were re-visited on models during a live fashion show in front of the gallery wall.
Jittania Cire Smith (DJ Gyp Chi), Cheri's daughter, is the DJ for the project, creating layers of musical illustration with samples from bee documentaries and feminine based ideologies about the creative process and the female body.
2016 will be a year where the presentation of the "Bee Story Dress" project is explored extensively through photography, music, and performance art.
